Over the years I've seen a number of Metal Gear figures. Items that range from Solid Snake, to Grey Fox, but this one has to take the cake, and bake the cake. What your seeing below is none other than the Metal Gear RAY machine from the series, and it's still not even finished yet. This awesome looking toy was created in the series as a countermeasure for the REX, although the REX was released before RAY, so it looks like good timing to me.
That person in those two photos is none other Yoji Shinkawa, the famous artist responsible for many of those great looking Metal Gear works of art. That's a name that resonates well in the Konami world. The company that created it also did the REX figure, they are Hong Kong based collectible maker ThreeA. This seems to be their second Metal Gear mecha toy they have going on. Personally I can't wait until this one is finished, especially after seeing the end result for the first one.
These photos are released courtesy of Hideo Kojima, and for those of you who want to see more information, in fact, pretty much everything just about there is to know on the RAY machine, you can find it from the Wikia Metal Gear page, which will give you some fine details on it. The bottom picture below is a photo of the finished REX toy, and you can find many, many more photos like that one including the box that it came in from a special review site called RadToyReview. Oh, if you're wondering how much folks have forked out for a giant lovable Metal Gear toy like this one. How about $500 being paid for the REX figure?
Sure, it's a bit pricey, but it's more than just a toy, it's a well detailed and really huge toy! So I imagine the same ballpark price might be charged for the RAY figure as well. In any case, if it ends up looking as awesome as the first one, to the die hard Metal Gear fan out there, $500 might be some serious budget cutbacks will be taking place in their lives in the near future.
Also, check out a video from Guns of the Patriots that involves both machines in a fight, and let me know what you think about this cool monster toy in the comment section below. I'd like to hear your feedback on what you think of it.
