Aria of Sorrow makes the grade for best Gameboy Advance Castlevania

October 21, 2014

Ahh, the good old days of the GameBoy Advance? Has it really been that long? Looks like it has, but even in the wake of the beloved Koji Igarashi leaving Konami recently, one of his great Castlevania games lives on, with Aria of Sorrow for the GBA hand held system. This was the last, and yet best MetroidVania title to embrace the palms of your hands, and now can be relived on the big screen once again, thanks to the Nintendo Wii-U Virtual Console.

What a horrible night to have a curse, as the main character being a young Spanish lad had succumbed to just that, a curse that he must rid himself of, or pay the consequences. Playing Aria of Sorrow, you can certainly see plenty of elements from the grandfather of Castlevania games, Symphony of the Night. AOS does it justice, without the need for a Belmont clansmen to take charge of the whip this time around.

The government classification board of Australia has given Aria of Sorrow an "M" rating for Mature content. It is doubtful that any censorship will take place for such a title. Now that it does have a rating, you can expect to see it the Wii-U VC.  Check out the game play video below, and remember the good old days, which doesn't really seem that long ago.
