Sometimes it's considered normal to revolt against the parents. Well, acceptable when your parents are in the wrong. Such was the case with Alucard, which is the son of Dracula, and Dracula spelled backwards of course. Where did that name come from? Some say an old movie, you know, the black and white ones of the early to mid 1900s that gave birth to such horror films and Tv shows like Nosferatu, Little Shop of Horrors, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock movies and more.
There was one however called "Son of Dracula", a 1943 film featuring a vampire named Alucard, and likely where Konami first picked up that name. Some also believe that Konami may have been influenced by the anime Vampire Hunter D, another movie where the protagonist is the son of the almighty you know who, and is on a mission in his immortal life to vanquish other vampires, and unholy creatures of the night.
Still, to this day the name and character live on, mostly being remembered as the main character in Symphony of the Night, which is considered the ultimate granddaddy of all Castlevania games, pure and simple. So what a better way to keep the spirit alive with one of our favorite Castlevania characters, than to showcase some of the best of the best Alucard cosplay from the fans themselves.
