Dr. Strangelove, or how I learned to stop worrying and love Metal Gear parodies

August 26, 2016

Let's kick off Metal Gear appreciation week (or longer) as we dive into some fan made videos that are worthy of some attention. Never can get enough of these can we? While Konami is on the edge of a cliff wondering how the world will react to the new Metal Gear Survive game, you the fans are still busy and hard at work showing your love for the magic that is already out there.

After all, one of the best ways to express that love is through not only art & music, but also in the shape of comedy and parodies of your favorite game franchise.

Metal Gear is certainly no exception to the cause, and after the success over the years of all the MG games that have surfaced in your living room, why not throw another video on the grill?

This one is called "Sleeping with the Enemy", a Metal Gear video based on Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and features the mystery behind Boxhound. What is boxhound? Well, let me throw you a bone. Remember the cardboard box in the first Solid game back in the old Playstation 1 days?

Yeah I know, it's been a while since that one released, but ever since then the good old cardboard box has seem to stick to the surface of MG games, and was used quite a bit in last year's release of The Phantom Pain.

This video takes after that particular game somewhat, and is developed as a short film by none other than the folks who brought you the original Boxhound comedy video that went viral a while back. A big thanks to the fine and dedicated folks at Fury Fingers for making this cool video, and putting it up on YouTube for the rest of us to enjoy.

Now keep in mind no enemy was harmed during the making of this video. They only laughed themselves to death. Honest.
