Metal Gear fan collections that will have your eyes bulging

May 21, 2015

How long has it been since the introduction of the first Metal Gear game? Ahh yes, 28 years and counting right? Yes, it really has been that long, and makes you feel kind of old if you were around and old enough to play it back then. For me I would have been 13 years old during the year of 1987. When I first picked up the NES version of Metal Gear and took it home, I didn't know what to think. Tactical espionage action, and the main heroes name is Snake? Yeah, not the Snake Plissken character from the "Escape from New York" and "Escape from L.A." films played by actor Kurt Russell. Snake, as in just that, a code name and that is all you need to since it's all about stealth.

Fun Fact - Did you know that the NES game for Metal Gear, along with "Snake's Revenge" were not even considered true Metal Gear games by creator Hideo Kojima? He never actually created those versions, and made his own two versions with a completely different storyline and graphics for the Japanese MSX2 computer system. Everything about them was superior to their Nintendo 8-bit counterparts. See video.

After all of these years, the amount of fans out there has become so enormous, that quite a few of them have taken to task of collecting every game, merchandise, and figure you can imagine. Everything from the originals, to Playstation, PSP, Gamecube, and even Xbox versions are not out for the count. Judging from the looks at these collection pictures, many of you would never have thought there was this many games in the series.

Are your eyes tearing up yet? These kinds of fans stop at nothing to have every single game. Hey, how did Zone of the Enders get mixed up in there?

I think PokeTheCactus might be taking the gold medal home with his fan collection. Truly epic.

A bit up close and personal with this one. Another fine collection from Akira-Devilman-Fudo.

So many games and merchandise in this mix that it needed its own bed to sleep on. ;) Notice all the new figures still in the package, the way a true fan should keep it.

Another up close shot of this fan collection, and some magazine issues to boot. Thanks to koukis14 for his efforts.

If you too have a personal fan collection you would like to share with the rest of the world, no problem. Simply submit your photo(s) along with some statements about yourself and your collection, and I will add it to this page.
