Picture yourself playing a Metal Gear game for the first time. You've just got home, and tear open the shrink wrap on your new game. Firing it up in your game console you begin at the first mission with anticipation. Then it happens. You've just encountered your first enemy. With the typical ! above the enemies head, you start to panic and wonder what to do next. Then it dawns on you. What button doesn't make me crouch??!!
We've all been there before, and getting used to a new game for the first time can be quite a challenge. Some games are easier to get used to than others, while some just drive you up the wall trying to just stay alive. What you need is a comedy relief.
The kind you get from comedian Dara O'Briain. In all his glory he did one of his best BBC comedy shows a while back live at the Apollo. One of his stand up acts involved none other than Metal Gear Solid itself. In his funny performance he talks about how awkward it is to be in a gun battle and trying to figure out what to do next in the game. As you can expect, his act takes things to a level of laughter you wouldn't normally get from a serious game like MG.
This of course isn't the first time the famous tactical espionage action game has met the world of comedy. There have been a number of performances ranging from hiding in a box while walking through a store, to doing prank calls to both gun stores and even Konami themselves! I guess there is nothing wrong with a little game time humor from the fans is there? Just don't give someone the wrong idea, you know.
