The best of Metal Gear game music soundtrack piano renditions

June 30, 2015

It makes up at least half of the game right? Yeah, the music soundtrack to the games you play is something that players often take for granted. Gone are the days of the mindless bleeps and bloops that you used to hear back in the old Atari and Coleco days of gaming. Oh where has the time gone? But imagine these days if you turned the volume down, way down.

All the way off and tried playing your game without either sound effects or music at all. It would be a whole new experience, and one that I'm sure you would have a hard time getting used to. Imagine no music in Castlevania Symphony of the Night, or no sound effects in that awesome Silent Hill game you love so much.

Some things are hard to live without, and worth your appreciation. Game music soundtracks are nothing new, but they have given game players so much over the years that to this day you even have live orchestral performances doing their own tributes to great hits like Metal Gear Solid and the above mentioned titles.

But what about the individual? You and I are just as capable of showing our love for game music as the rest of the world, and the folks in these videos have done just that. This time in the form of a piano rendition.

You might not think a simple piano would suffice for doing a full cover for hit games like Metal Gear Solid, but you would be surprised in a heartbeat what a little talent and a lot of patience can yield. Among these is of course a computer generated version using a type of tracker player, something like the ones we used to use back in the day for mods and such.

Every single one is a representation of their kind efforts, and we give special thanks to these folks for that.

Take a listen and see what I mean, and if you have a personal performance yourself you would like to add to the mix, just leave your comment in the section below, or use the contact form and include some information about yourself and your work. Cheers.

Another huge special thanks to these talented musicians for posting their great work online. I personally loved these so much that I plan on doing a revisit to Metal Gear music again sometime this year for more of the same. You never can get too much of a good thing right? Right.
